At address, the 7-iron in Carl Yuan's bag offers a clear view of the clubhead, but little else.
GolfWRX photographed Yuan with the irons ahead of the 2023 John Deere Classic. The images show the 7-iron from address, but reveal no product specifications and do not confirm a retail release.
The sighting follows an earlier equipment change. Ahead of the 2023 Travelers Championship, GolfWRX spotted a Callaway Apex CB 4-iron in Adam Svensson's bag. The CB and MB appearances point to a potentially broader Apex lineup, though Callaway had yet to spell out what was coming.
Yuan's set may also include a 10-iron. Callaway made an Apex MB 10-iron available to him, but the photographs do not establish that it was part of the set. "10" could be another name for a pitching wedge.
Later coverage of Callaway's tour MB irons helps clarify the gap between equipment used by professionals and retail models. In a Livedoor News report, Min Woo Lee described a version with a slightly larger muscle-back head and said he liked how it moved through the turf. The report also quoted a Callaway representative: a separate MB version had originally been planned for retail with a chrome finish, but a limited release was made only in an unplated finish. Retail availability of the chrome version had not been decided.
Tour photos can show what players are using without establishing whether a model will reach retail or what its final specifications will be. The same distinction applies to earlier prototype coverage. GolfWRX has reported sightings of the Apex CB and Apex MB 2023 irons; Callaway has not shared further details.
