Our editorial standards govern coverage of golf equipment, technology, and performance, including news, technical explainers, reviews, rankings, and buying guides. These standards apply whether an article reports a new product, interprets a technical claim or recommends an option for a particular golfer.
Core Editorial Standards
- Editorial Independence
Kevin Sullivan oversees editorial direction and publication decisions. Story choice and conclusions are based on reader relevance and available evidence, not demands from advertisers or manufacturers. Google AdSense ads are separate from independent content.
- Topic and Source Selection
We favor developments with meaningful equipment implications: performance, compatibility, rules, price, durability, fitting, and technology. We favor primary manufacturer documentation, USGA and R&A publications, technical research, and identifiable direct statements; reputable secondary sources can supply context.
We distinguish confirmed facts, claims, estimates, opinion, third-party findings, and original testing. No article may claim first-hand testing without documented testing having occurred.
- Accuracy and Attribution
Important names, specifications, dates, prices, measurements, and quoted statements should be checked. Headlines and introductions must accurately reflect the body. Missing information should be described as uncertain rather than filled in with speculation.
We do not fabricate quotes, citations, test results, experts, credentials, or supporting documents. Named sources are preferred; confidential sources are exceptional and subject to editor approval and corroboration.
In Reviews and Publishing
- Reviews and Conflicts
Reviews and rankings use relevant criteria and describe the evidence available. Paid visibility does not determine editorial ranking position. Contributors should disclose material commercial, personal or financial conflicts; product loans or assistance relevant to an evaluation should be identified.
Manufacturers do not receive a right to approve conclusions. Favorable coverage cannot be purchased.
- AI and Visuals
AI is used for illustrative visual materials, not for writing articles, editorial research or fact-checking. Editorial responsibility for accuracy and publication remains with the named editorial team. AI-generated illustrations must not be presented as documentary photographs, real equipment testing, or accurate depictions of a specific product when they are not.
Errors and Accountability
Material factual errors are reviewed and corrected where verified. Significant corrections should be explained when appropriate; minor typographic edits may not need a note. Submit concerns to [email protected]. The aim is not to treat every later change as a mistake, but to distinguish verifiable errors from evolving specifications, new product information and disagreements about editorial interpretation.
