Viktor Hovland is a fresh-faced Norwegian golfer that seems to enjoy his journey on the PGA Tour looking at his ever-smiling face.

Viktor Hovland was born on September 18, 1997 in Oslo, Norway.

He measures in at 5 feet 10 inches weighing around 165 pounds.

History

Hovland studied at Oklahoma State University.

In winning the 2018 U.S. Amateur, Viktor became the first Norwegian golfer to achieve this feat.

He was also the first Norwegian golfer to play in the Masters Tournament when he qualified in 2019.

Viktor became the world’s Number 1 amateur in 2018 before joining the professional ranks in 2019 after the US Open.

Hovland earned his PGA TOUR card for the 2019-20 season by finishing No. 6 in the Korn Ferry Tour Finals 25.

Hovland set a PGA Tour record in the 2019/20 season shooting 19 consecutive rounds in the 60s.

Some Interesting Facts About Viktor Hovland

To date, Viktor Hovland has only had one hole in one at the 2020 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Viktor was the low amateur at the 2019 Masters Tournament and the U.S. Open becoming the first golfer in this century to do so.

Finishing 12th in the 2019 US Open with a score of 280 enabled Viktor to break Jack Nicklaus’ 1960 record of 282 for the lowest amateur score in US Open history.

He was introduced to golf at a relatively late age of 11 when his dad returned from USA with a set of golf clubs.

Hovland learned English by watching movies like “Lincoln” and “Amistad.”

Viktor represented Norway at the 2014 Amateur Summer Youth Olympics.

Hovland traveled between tournaments by car until late 2020 when it became too much, and he decided to fly in the future.

Prediction

The ever-smiling Hovland is making great strides up the OWGR ladder as well as the FedEx Cup standings with his consistently high finishes in tournaments.

It will be interesting to monitor his progress and the Viktor Hovland club selection.
