Lots of praise for the Rogue line of golf clubs released by Callaway goes to the Rogue Driver, and for good reason. But perhaps the most underrated club in the entire set has to be the Callaway Rogue Fairway Wood. It has many of the same features as the driver but in a smaller and super easy to hit package. Plus, it has all the customization options as the original Rogue Driver.

In today’s article, we will be taking a closer look at the Rogue Fairway Wood. We’ll be examining its key features, technology, and benefits to see how it can change your golf game. There will also be a section where we compare both the benefits and drawbacks of the Rogue Fairway Wood.

Features

  • Combined power of Jailbreak Technology and X-Face VFT Technology that promote high ball speed and long distance
  • Weight saved by the light, strong Triaxle Carbon Crown is repositioned in the head to promote high launch/ low spin and increased MOI
  • Ultra-low CG location and high MOI make Rogue fairways easy to hit and exceptionally accurate
  • Industry-leading Selection of Shaft, Weight and Loft Options
  • material type: Graphite

Key Features

There really is quite an overlap in features between the Rogue Fairway Wood and Driver. Here is a quick list of the key features.

  • Jailbreak Technology
  • X-Face VFT Technology
  • Triaxial Carbon Crown
  • Ultra-Low CG Location

As you can see, there are many new technologies present on the Rogue Fairway Wood. Both Jailbreak and X-Face VFT technologies play a big part in the outstanding performance of the club. We will talk in more detail about these technologies in the next section.

But before we get to that we should highlight the inclusion of a Triaxial Carbon Crown. By using carbon fiber for the upper half of the clubhead, the overall weight of the club was lowered. This saved weight was then moved lower in the clubhead to create an Ultra-Low Center of Gravity. With this low Center of Gravity allows the Rogue Fairway Wood to get the ball into the air easier than most other fairway woods.

Many golfers will also like the fact that there are many different configurations available for the Callaway Rogue Fairway Wood. Three, five, and seven wood clubheads are available with shaft flexes that range from ladies through seniors.

Technology

As referenced earlier in the last section there are two very important technologies, Jailbreak and X-Face VFT, available on the Callaway Rogue Fairway Wood. The first technology we are going to take a closer look at will be the much talked about Jailbreak Technology.

Jailbreak itself is a relatively simple idea that produces chart-topping results. The technology uses two titanium rods spaced about an inch apart directly behind the clubface. Golfers that find the sweet spot will see their shots get increased ball speed and distance thanks to Jailbreak’s increased trampoline effect.

To amplify the amount of forgiveness in the Rogue Fairway Wood, Callaway created a special X-Face VFT clubface. This uses variable thickness areas across the entire clubface to benefit ball speed and forgiveness. Many of the best clubs in golf are now trying to replicate this variable thickness technology.

Who can benefit from this club?

Thanks to all the innovative features and ease of use, the Callaway Rogue Fairway Wood has the potential to benefit many different groups of golfers.three males walking the golf course From casual golfers to the hardcore, the Rogue Fairway Wood is an excellent choice. So instead of naming who the Rogue Fairway Wood can benefit, it’ll be easier to mention those groups who should pass on the Rogue.

The first group that should probably not use the Rogue Fairway Wood are beginner golfers who are still working on getting a clean and consistent swing. While the Rogue is a very forgiving club, it just can’t be used to its full potential with beginners. So it’s probably best for beginners to skip on the Rogue Fairway Wood and choose a cheaper fairway wood.

Budget golfers will also find themselves not being able to benefit from the Callaway Rogue. At $200, it is a relatively expensive fairway wood. So if you’re on a tight budget there is a good chance you won’t be able to afford, thus benefit from, a brand new Rogue. But if you can find one used for the right price then, by all means, add it to your bag.

Benefits & Drawbacks

At this point in our review, the benefits of the Rogue Fairway Wood are quite easy to see. It has great forgiveness, outstanding distance, and is super easy to hit. So there isn’t really much more you can ask for in a fairway wood. Despite all these benefits, there are some drawbacks.

First is the $200 price tag. It seems that you have to really pay a premium to use these innovative features. So unless you play a lot of golf, it might be tough getting your money’s worth. The second drawback is no adjustability with the hosel. So golfers will be unable to change the loft or lie of the clubface.

Bottom Line

In the end, the Callaway Rogue Fairway Wood is an outstanding golf club. Its features, design, and performance make it a must-have for dedicated golfers. Plus, thanks to its high-quality construction, this Fairway Wood will last for years.

But the club is expensive putting it outside the reach of many golfers who are on a budget. And for many golfers, the money spent on the Rogue Fairway Wood could be better spent in another area of their golf game. Although if you are really set on the Rogue Fairway Wood, buying it second hand may be one of the best ways to get the club at a discount.

So at the end of the day, we definitely recommend the Callaway Rogue Fairway Wood. The performance is definitely worth the money, making it worthy of a spot in your bag. And if you want more configuration options when ordering, we recommend purchasing the club on Amazon.
