While the 915 series of drivers got rave reviews, Titleist was still determined to create an even better driver that would improve on all aspects of the 915. In October of 2016, Titleist released its 917 driver which was impressively better than the 915. In only a couple weeks, the 917 driver became to go to driver for many of the PGA Tour Players.
A new feature called the SureFit CG and Hosel brought some of the best adjustability to golfers in recent years. The CG, in particular, allows for different weights to be inserted in the sole of the club to create a better swing feel. The SureFit Hosel allows for many adjustments including the loft of the club and the openness or closedness of the face. A wrench tool makes it very easy to perform any adjustments and is included with the 917 D3 driver.
Some other additions were an increase in forgiveness across the entire face in an attempt to increase ball speed of all shots, including mishits. The sound of the 917 D3 was also revamped to help inspire confidence in amateurs and professionals alike.

- Improved Forgiveness
- Enhanced Sound
Not all golfers have the skills and ability to play golf at the highest level, but they still want a driver that can help increase their driving distance while being forgiving on shots that are off center. This is where the 917 D2 steps in.
Featuring the same SureFit Technology that is found on the D3 Tour Version, the 917 D2 will help any golfer create the perfect fit for their game. Adjust the hosel to get the perfect launch angle or switch out the SureFit Weights to create a better swing plane. Since the SureFit Technology is found on both the D3 and D2 models of drivers, it should be very easy to find weights and adapters if you would need them in the future.
With a thinner perimeter face, mishits shots will travel farther and with less side spin than in previous Titleist 9 series drivers. The D2 model does have some slight face changes to really reduce overall spin ball spin. Shots that exit the middle of the face will have a pleasing sound that should inspire confidence for the next shot.
For this specific 917 D2 driver, the loft is 10.5 degrees and includes a Diamana LTD 60 Regular Flex Shaft. As with all the other 917 drivers, the D2 comes with a Golf Pride Tour Velvet grip.

Title | Titleist 915 D3 Driver 8.5 Mitsubishi Diamana M+ Red 50 Graphite Stiff Right Handed 45 in |
Even though the Titleist 915 D3 Driver debuted in late 2014, it is still a great driver that can even still go against some of today’s newest clubs in distance and forgiveness.
Key Features
- Active Recoil Channel
- Radial Speed Face
- High MOI Design
Titleist debuted many different features on the 915 drivers that have appeared on several Titleist drivers since. Some of these features really helped propelled Titleist to become one of the best names in golf drivers.
The first feature was the Active Recoil Channel that was placed just behind the face of the club. This channel allowed for the face of the 915 D3 to act like a trampoline and transfer more energy to the golf ball during impact. This Active Recoil channel would also find its way onto other club types including 3 woods and hybrids.
A Radial Speed Face compliments the Active Recoil Channel and helps improve ball speed on mishit shots. This is accomplished by making the face thinner around the edges while making the middle of the face a bit thicker. A larger sweet spot and unmistakable sound are the two main advantages with this face design.
This specific model of the 915 D3 has an 8.5-degree loft and comes with a Diamana D+ Stiff Shaft. The lower 8.5-degree loft is perfect for golfers who want to have a penetrating ball flight or are having issues with hitting the ball too high off the tee.
✅ Pros

- Solid Forgiveness
🚫 Cons

- Tour Version
While the Titleist 915 D3 8.5 Driver may be a little over 5 years old, it is still an excellent performing driver that can be had at a much-reduced price than when they were first available.

Limited Edition runs of golf clubs are not a normal occurrence in golf since many clubs are mass produced for retail sale. This hasn’t stopped Titleist from releasing a limited edition of the 917 D2 driver.
Key Features
- SureFit CG & Hosel
- Improved Forgiveness
- Enhanced Sound
Boasting the same clubhead as a stock retail version of the 917 D2, the limited edition version of the 917 D2 will have the same features as the stock version. So golfers should expect the same exceptional distance and forgiveness.
What makes this particular 917 D2 driver a limited edition is the special shaft that is included. Made by Mitsubishi, the Diamana M+ Red shaft includes several new features such as a new manufacturing process. This process creates lower torque and less spin by moving some weight inside the shaft. This makes the M+ Red one of the best performing shafts that come preinstalled on the 917 D2.
While this shaft is one of the best performing, it may be wise to make sure that this shaft will fit your game. If you will not notice a slight difference in the flex and torque, it may be better to go with another less pricy preinstalled shaft. Of course, if you want your driver to look great then there is no substitute for the Limited Edition M+ Red.
This particular shaft has a flex of regular and weighs in at 50 grams. A Golf Pride Tour Velvet premium grip is also included.

Title | Titleist 915 D4 Driver 9.5 Aldila Rogue Silver 60 Graphite Stiff Right Handed 45 in |
Trouble from the tee due to hooks and slices will be a thing of the past thanks to the spring reducing technology in the Titleist 915 D4 9.5 Driver.
Key Features
- Active Recoil Channel
- Radial Speed Face
- High MOI Design
Slicing and Hooking are the two biggest problems that many amateur golfers face on a hole by hole basis. Thankfully, Titleist though of a way to provide the same distance and forgiveness that is found in the 915 D2 and D3 drivers, with added spin reduction.
Lower spin was achieved by moving the weighting from the very back of the club to the center, right behind the Active Recoil Channel. This change helps the ball bounce off the face, but without picking up any unwanted spin. Moving the weight from deep at the back of the club to the middle will make the club feel a little lighter and maybe hurt the launch angle of the club a bit. But like the other 915 driver, the weight is interchangeable so you can add a larger weight to help bring back some distance lost to a lower launch.
Overall though, the D4 is one of the best additions to the 915 line as it has the ability to really help those who struggle with side spin. More fairways hit means lower scores and handicaps.
This particular driver comes with a 9.5-degree loft and Aldila Rogue 60 Stiff Flex shaft. Like all other 915 drivers, the 915 D4 comes with a Golf Pride Tour Velvet grip.
✅ Pros
- Very Little Spin
- Excellent Adjustability
- Solid Forgiveness
🚫 Cons
- Price
If you are new to golf or are just wanting to reduce the severity of a slice or hook, look no further than the Titleist 915 D4 9.5 Driver.
Bottom Line
Titleist drivers have been consistently been leading the pack when it comes to innovation and performance. This is why they have become some of the most used drivers on the PGA Tour.
Features like adjustable weighting and hosel adjustments are what make it so easy to customize a Titleist driver to your individual game. With a Titleist driver, you are really getting more than one club since you can adjust the club as your swing or skill level changes. This much adjustability allows you to buy a Titleist driver and no longer worry about upgrading your clubs for at least a couple years.
Other features that make the 9 series of Titleist drivers better than their competitors are the inclusion of high-end shafts and grips all included standard. While you may not think that this is a big deal, having these upgraded options out of the gate makes it easy to improve your game.
Overall, Titleist 9 series drivers have been known as some of the best drivers to ever be produced. So take your game to the next level today with the Titleist 9 series of drivers!
