Get the looks of a forged blade-style iron and the forgiveness of a cavity back iron with the Ping G700 Irons.

Key Features

  • Hollow Body Construction
  • C300 Maraging Steel Face
  • Forgiving Sole Shape

Game improvement irons have been making waves in amateur golf for quite some time now. Players can now get the feel and workability of a forged iron with the forgiveness of a cavity back. The Ping G700 Irons do in fact have a fully Hollow Body Construction that gives the irons exceptional distance and forgiveness.

A Forged C300 Maraging Steel Face is what gives the G700 Irons their top of the line workability. Since the face is also extremely thin, golf balls get some of the best exit speed in golf. Add in zone-specific weighting and Ping has an iron that launches high and goes far.

One final feature that needs to be highlighted is the Forgiving Sole Styling. Each G700 Iron has improved sole geometry that makes every turf interaction feel the same. Ping G700 Irons are available in many different shaft and lie configurations.

✅ Pros

  • Super Forgiving
  • Nice High Launch
  • Clean Look At Address

🚫 Cons

  • Finish Marks Easily

Building on the success of the Ping G400 Irons, Ping brings back a similar design for the G410 but with increases face flexibility and improved weighting.

Key Features

  • Larger Flexing Zone
  • Toe/Hosel Weighting
  • Co-Molded Cavity Badge

Aesthetically, the Ping G410 Irons seem very similar to the previous generation G400 Irons. The biggest changes come from a larger area of the face that can flex. More flexibility means that centered shots will go farther and mishits will leave the face with more speed.

Adding to forgiveness is an individual weight that can be found in the toe and hosel of the G410 Irons. These weights create a higher overall MOI that should increase consistency and forgiveness.

Like many other brands of high-end irons, the Ping G410 Irons have vibration dampening technology. Ping accomplishes this damping through a co-molded aluminum and elastomer cavity back cap. Golfers can choose from many configurations of the Ping G410 to suit their individual game.

✅ Pros

  • Impressive Forgiveness
  • Fast Ball Speed
  • Great Sounding

🚫 Cons

Features

  • Ping i500 Forged Black Dot
  • Compact Design The clean, blade-style shape with minimal offset produces so much speed and distance that you'll be able to hit one less club into greens.
  • Precision Grooves, Face The face and grooves are precision-milled to provide a flat surface for ensuring consistent ball speeds and reliable ballstriking.
  • HydroPearl Chrome 2.0 Finish This premium finish helps ensure impact consistency and distance control from the rough and wet conditions while adding to the high-end appeal of the club.

If your golf game demands the best, Ping is there for you with the Ping i500 Irons.

Key Features

  • Forged Clubhead
  • Precision Grooves
  • HydroPeral Finish

Ping i Series Irons have always been some of the top-performing forged irons in the game. The i500 Irons are no different and feature a fully forged clubhead. Each clubhead then receives a C300 maraging steel face insert for explosive distance.

Precision milling as been done to the grooves on the face to ensure each is flat to the surface. A completely flat surface helps increase consistent ball striking. Spin is not negatively affected and is still quite high on shorter irons.

Like the G700 Irons, the Ping i500 Irons come with a HydroPeral Finish. This finish is quite bright but will experience fading after prolonged play. We suggest keeping the i500 irons from getting large scratches as that can lead to early wear in the finish. Several different flexes and shaft types are available to golfers through Ping and the secondary market.

✅ Pros

  • Outstanding Feel
  • Great Workability
  • Exceptional Distance

🚫 Cons

  • Expensive
  • Only For Low Handicaps

With a premium forged body and meticulously crafted face, the Ping i500 Irons are built to perform.

Features

  • Ping G400 Black Dot
  • Aestheticallly pleasing lines and a smooth, streamlined hosel transition at address inspire confidence and create a clean look.
  • Innovative technology generates 18% more flexing for hotter ball speeds and a higher peak trajectory for better stopping power. Hyper 17-4 stainless steel is stronger to allow for a thin face.

While only being a year old, the Ping G400 Irons still have a great deal of cutting edge technology.

Key Features

  • Core-Eye Technology
  • Toprail Undercut Cavity
  • HydroPeral Finish

By far the largest draw of the Ping G400 Irons is the Core-Eye Technology. This very special type of technology places weight and flexibility directly behind the center of the face. What makes it game-changing is that the weight and flexibility radiate outwards and cover much of the face in a way that will increase the ball speed of mishit shots.

A Toprail undercut cavity also plays a part in the forgiveness of the G400 Irons. Made to look like any other cavity back the Toprail Undercut Cavity expands the area of the face that can flex resulting in more distance and forgiveness.

Ping’s HydroPeral Finish can be found on the G400 Irons but only on the sole and cavity back. Having less finish present than on the i500 or G700 means that it will wear slower and have a lower risk of damage through scratching.

✅ Pros

  • Great Distance
  • Excellent Forgiveness
  • Good Looks

🚫 Cons

  • Expensive

Pick up the Ping G400 irons at a slight discount and get many of the same features that can be found on the new ping irons the G410.

The Ping G Irons are some of the best Ping irons ever thanks to their super fast ball speed at impact.

Key Features

  • Core-Eye Technology
  • 17-4 Stainless Steel
  • Consistently Faster Ball Speed

Ping has crafted the Ping G Irons for one thing and one thing only; speed. It all starts at the face of the club where the face insert is created from 17-4 Stainless Steel. Not only is this steel super hard, but it has been heat-treated for extra flexibility. Ping claims that this special steel gives each shot an extra 5 yards of distance.

Ball Speed is also gained from Core-Eye Technology. This technology creates a larger area of flex that maximizes ball speed, even on mis-hits. So if you are having difficulty consistently getting shots off the middle of the clubface, the Ping G Irons could help you maintain your distance.

Overall, the Ping G Irons should net you approximately 1.25 mph of added ball speed compared to other irons. Many different combinations of the Ping G Irons exist and allow golfers to get a more personal fit.

✅ Pros

  • Great Distance
  • Good Forgiveness
  • Clean Look

🚫 Cons

Thanks to a speed inspired design, golfers can experience more consistent ball speed and distance with the Ping G Irons.

Made to feel better than any other iron on the market, the Ping i210 Irons are a true masterpiece.

Key Features

  • Progressive Structural Design
  • Elastomer Insert
  • CNC Machined Face

It is no question that forged irons have a superior feel, but nothing compares to the Ping i210 Irons. Made with a Progressive Structural Design that optimizes feel and consistency specifically for long or short irons. This is perfect for golfers who want only the best feel no matter the club.

To increase energy transfer to the ball, Ping placed an elastomer insert behind the entire face of each i210 Iron. Not only does this elastomer insert increase energy but it also creates a super soft feel. One downside is that the insert deadens the sound, but not in a very dramatic way.

Another premium feature of the Ping i210 Irons is that the entire face of the club is precision CNC Milled. Even the grooves are milled to optimize contact and spin rates. Several different shaft types and flexes are available.

✅ Pros

  • Top Of The Line Feel
  • Super Consistent
  • Great Workability

🚫 Cons

Some of the best irons ever created, the Ping G30 Irons will help you take your game to the next level.

Key Features

  • Progressive Length & Loft
  • 17-4 Stainless Steel Head
  • Enhanced Sole Design

Cavity back irons tend to have a dull and chunky look, but the Ping G30 Irons have a thin and elegant blade-style look. This sleek look comes from a 17-4 Stainless Steel head that gives a pure feel and confidence-inspiring design. The cavity is actually quite small on these irons but still serves its purpose for adding forgiveness.

An iron that bounces off the ground or cuts under the ball is no good. Ping has made sure that each and every strike is perfect with an Enhanced Sole Design that should help reduce chunking. So you no longer have to worry about poor turf interactions again!

Each G30 Iron has a progressive length and loft that helps create more distance than a comparable iron. This is very important for longer irons as they may be the difference between a short wedge or another iron shot on a par 5.

✅ Pros

  • Excellent Distance
  • Easy To Hit
  • Great Looks

🚫 Cons

  • Expensive

The Ping G30 Irons look great and are super easy to hit making them a great addition to any golfer’s bag.

A couple of unique face features are incorporated in the Ping i25 Irons to help give golfers the most forgiveness possible. First is Tungsten Toe Weighting that stabilizes the head throughout the entire swing. The second feature is face stabilization bars. Shorter bars in long irons increase velocity and longer bars in short irons lower the ball flight.

A Ping i25 Iron set comes with irons that cover 4 through pitching wedge. A couple of different shaft options are available as well as special face lie options.

While being an older style of club, the Ping S59 Irons are still a great choice for golfers on a budget.

Key Features

  • Cavity Back / Hybrid Performance
  • Balde Style Design
  • Stabilizing Bar

As a whole, the S59 Irons are quite an interesting concept. They feature a blade style of iron that really does look great at address. What makes it interesting is that the sole of each iron is a little larger similar to a hybrid.

This combination of a blade look, with hybrid/cavity back forgiveness really does work. Distance is spot on and forgiveness is acceptable. Even the feel is a little more advanced than a typical cavity back iron.

A stabilizing bar on the back of what makes up the cavity helps reduce unwanted vibrations at impact. Golfers will also notice a slight increase in overall distance with the S59 Irons. Being that this set is no longer in production, golfers will be limited to set options that are available by Ping or other authorized dealers.

✅ Pros

  • Great Forgiveness
  • Good Playability
  • Confidence Inspiring Look

Everything about the Ping S59 Irons makes for some head-scratching, but the performance can’t be beaten.

Features

  • Ping G10 Green Dot Iron Set RH Golf Clubs
  • 5-PW AWT Ping Steel Stiff Flex Shafts
  • WINN Lite Firm Grips - excellent condition!
  • Standard Length - 38" (5 iron)

The Ping G10 Irons may look a little dated but they can still perform against many modern mid-tier irons.

Key Features

  • Larger Cavity Back
  • Ascending Weight Technology
  • Thinner Face

When Ping decided to remake the G5 Irons, they choose to increase the cavity on the G10 as a way to move weight around the clubhead. With this change, Ping was able to move the center of gravity farther back. In turn, the G10 Irons are super easy to hit with almost no effort required to get the golf ball off the ground.

For distance, Ping went with a super-thin face to help create more bounce and better energy transfer. This has resulted in the G10 Irons being much longer than their predecessor the G5 Irons.

Special shafts that utilize Ascending Weight Technology come standard in the G10 Irons. These shafts are more lightweight for long irons and become heavier as they progress to shorter irons. This change in weight is to promote a more consistent feel across different clubs in the bag.

✅ Pros

  • Deep Center Of Gravity
  • Excellent Forgiveness
  • Perfect For High Handicappers
  • Great Value

🚫 Cons

  • A Little Dated

If you are searching for a new set of irons under $300, don’t be afraid to give the Ping G10 Irons a shot.

Features

  • Unique sole design contributes to perimeter weighting while also reducing turf contact for cleaner strikes
  • Preferred by players from professionals to high-handicappers

A real blast from the past, the Ping Eye 2 Irons are a perfect set for someone just getting into golf.

Key Features

  • Extreme Perimeter Weighting
  • Unique Sole Design
  • Thinner Face

The Ping Eye 2 Irons will always be an iconic style of golf clubs. What first strikes golfers is the interesting clubhead design that has a diagonal top line and rounded sole near the toe. It really is quite easy to pick the Eye 2 Irons out of a group due to their uniqueness.

An updated sole design makes for easier turf interactions no matter the conditions. The sole itself is mainly rounded with a small area in the middle that is flat providing better bounce. Distance for the Eye 2 Irons comes from a thinner face that really generates mass amounts of ball speed.

Overall, the Eye 2 Irons are great for beginners who want to make a small investment in their game. One downside is that they are a little dated and somewhat weird design. But at the price, they still get the job done.

✅ Pros

  • Great Forgiveness
  • Perfect Turf Interaction
  • Good Set For Beginners
  • Great Value

🚫 Cons

  • A Little Dated
  • Weird Clubhead Design

Smooth swinging and with great distance, the Ping i3 Irons are perfect for anyone who knows their swing and wants a deal on performance irons.

Key Features

  • Perimeter Weighting
  • Older Cavity Back Design

At the time they were produced Ping made both an oversized and blade style of i3 Iron. In this review, we will focus on the oversized model that is similar to today’s cavity back irons. On an older set of irons like the i3 the perimeter of the back of the club head would be lengthened to help move the center of gravity towards the center.

This replicated a similar effect that happens with today’s cavity back irons. A benefit of this elongated perimeter is that forgiveness across the entire clubface would be increased. The only downside to this design style is that shots that are too close to the perimeter may go off course similar to a shank.

Because of how the clubhead is made, the i3 Irons are ideal for golfers who have a solid grasp of the game. High and mid handicappers may experience more mis-hits and painful vibrations that are a result of non-centered shots on the i3 Irons.

✅ Pros

  • Smooth Swinging
  • Great Distance
  • Excellent Value

🚫 Cons

  • A Little Dated
  • Not For Beginners

If you are a low handicap golfer that wants clubs that perform well at a super cheap price, the Ping i3 Irons are a great choice.

Key Features

  • Extreme Perimeter Weighting
  • Unique Sole Design
  • Softer Feel

Steel golf clubs are great but you know what is better? Beryllium Copper clubs. Why you might ask? Well, Beryllium Copper performs just like steel but gives much more feedback than steel. This feedback is what golfers who like to work the ball want.

As far as features go, the Eye 2 and Beryllium Copper Eye 2 Irons have the exact same features. These features include Perimeter Weighting and a Unique Sole Design. The only difference is that the Beryllium Copper variety are much softer feeling.

These irons can be a little difficult to get a hold of since they were discontinued in 1998. The best guess for why they were discontinued is because Beryllium Copper is quite toxic in a powder or dust. But no worries, the clubs themselves are safe to use.

✅ Pros

Iconic in almost every way, Ping Zing 2 Irons call back to a time where golf was a truly different sport.

Key Features

  • Perimeter Weighting
  • Thin Sole Design
  • Thin Top Lines

During its time of production, the Ping Zing 2 Irons were some of the best irons on the market. Today, they might not be as technologically as advanced as modern irons but they can still hold their own in a better player’s hands.

These irons feature Perimeter Weighting to reduce twisting and turning during the swing. A thin sole design is also used to improve turf interaction. One downside is that the irons can cut into the ground quite easily resulting in chunking.

At address, the Ping Zing 2 Irons have a really thin top line that mimics a blade style iron. Because of its small sweet spot and less forgiveness, the Zing 2 Irons are only recommended for advanced golfers only. Higher handicap golfers will have problems hitting the irons very consistently.

✅ Pros

  • Great Feel
  • Good Distance
  • Great Value

🚫 Cons

  • A Little Dated
  • Weird Clubhead Design

The Ping Zing 2 Irons are a real piece of nostalgia that could still be used today by golfers that have advanced skills.

Bottom Line

With a large repertoire of irons that are fully customizable and models that cover golfers of all skills, it is no wonder Ping is one of the best iron manufacturers in the world. Expert craftsmanship means that each set of Ping irons will last many years of play. Add in Ping’s excellent customer service and you are guaranteed to have a worry-free purchase.

But all of this customer-centric service comes at a cost. As you have probably noticed, these irons are very expensive compared to other iron manufacturers. For most golfers this cost is just too much for a set of irons but for those who can afford the set, it really is worth it.

Plus, Ping irons tend to hold their resale value for a couple years making the investment something that will still be worth something after a couple of years. If you want to get your hands on some irons without spending a fortune, you could get some older models that will still perform very well.

No matter what set you choose, Ping irons are some of the best iron in all of golf. Get a set for your bag today and start seeing the difference! Still not convinced? Check out our detailed reviews of the best iron sets here golfaccessoriesreviews.com/best-golf-irons/.
