In the land of putter grips, there are all types of shapes and sizes. From thin to fat, round to boxy, and even contoured. But out of all these different grip types, the most popular has to be fat golf grips.

The main reason for the popularity of fat putter grips is the way they balance the putter and keep your hands from affecting the putter stroke. Thus a more consistent putter stroke, and lower scores, are achieved.

But there are many different fat, jumbo, and oversized putter grips on the market making it hard to know which is the best. That’s why we have created this review guide where we will take a closer look at the best options out there. Everything from key features to color options will be discussed.

Key Features

  • Advanced Surface Texture
  • Spyne Technology
  • SuperStroke Tech Port

SuperStroke has been the number one selling oversized putter grips for many years now. But with the new Traxion Grip, SuperStroke brings a whole new meaning to what their grips can do.

Perhaps the most noticeable feature is the Advanced Surface Texture. By using “X-Shaped Treads” and customized padding the Triaxon enhances feel and feedback. This grip also features Spyne Technology which adds a slightly raised ridge along the underside of the grip. SuperSoft says that this ridge improves a golfer’s ability to place their hands at the same spot for every putt.

There is also a small SuperStroke Tech Port on certain Triaxon Putter Grips (Tour 2.0 version & greater) that allow for the addition of a counterbalancing weight. A total of eight different color combinations are available and even include Digi-camo.

Pros

  • Excellent Feel
  • Reduced Hand Stress
  • Great Balance

Cons

  • Expensive

SuperStroke has really made one of the best and most feature-packed fat grips with its reimagined Triaxon.

Features

  • 98 Grams In Weight
  • Grip Shape Paddle
  • Grip Size Putter

The Winn’s X Pro grip is a classic oversized design with top of the line performance.

Key Features

  • Patented Winn Texture
  • Non-Tapered
  • 125 Grams

Winn grips have always been known for their unique texture and soft feel. And this tradition continues in Winn’s putter grip line with the Winn X Pro. Although Winn does include a slightly different texture that helps with feel and stability.

At 1.6” in diameter, the Winn X pro is one of the largest putter grips available. This also puts this particular putter grip in the same size category as the SoftStroke Fatso 5.0 (which will be reviewed next). No tapering is featured with the Winn X Pro which means that the 1.6” diameter runs the full 21” in length.

What sets this one apart from some other oversized putter grips is its weight. At 125 grams, the grip does well at counterbalancing heavier putters. It also does a great job for those golfers who like to anchor their putter on their forearm. Winn currently only offers these 1.6” diameter X Pro grips in either blue or white.

Pros

  • Excellent Feel
  • Reduced Hand Stress
  • Great For Heavier Putters

Cons

  • Expensive

If you are someone who loves a soft yet tactile grip, then the Winn X Pro is for you!

Features

  • USGA Approved
  • 1.67" Diameter
  • 10.50" Length
  • 90g+/-5 .580 core

Want the largest putter grip available? Then you have to go with the SuperStroke Fatso 5.0!

Key Features

  • Classic SoftStroke Texture
  • Non-Tapered
  • 90 Grams

SuperStroke’s Fatso Series has been one of its best selling. Thanks to several different sizes and great feel, there is a Fatso grip for any golfer. But the largest and best performing has to be the Fatso 5.0.

Coming in at 1.67” in diameter, the 5.0 is the largest grip SuperSoft makes. And with the Classic SuperSoft Texture, it has the same coveted feel as the smaller SuperSoft grips. The Fatso 5.0 also features no tapering making the entire grip the same diameter size.

Golfers who are fans of lighter fat putter grips will love the 5.0 since weighs just 90 grams. But if you are looking for counterbalancing, you might want to upgrade to the Triaxion grip mentioned earlier in this review. Color options include blue, orange, or red.

Pros

  • Very Tacky
  • Reduced Hand Stress
  • Promotes Even Hand Pressure

Cons

  • Expensive

If you really want the best in oversized putter grips, then you have to have the SuperStroke Fatso 5.0!

Features

Part Number D7-IVVA-GZ08

With a unique raised grip texture, the Ping AVS Oversize putter grip has a feel all its own!

Key Features

  • Raised Texture
  • Tapered
  • Lightweight

Ping has been an innovator in the putter space for decades. From unique putter designs to new and evolving putter grips, Ping has done it all. But on of the staples of a Ping putter is the Ping AVS Oversize grip.

With the AVS Oversize, Ping has included a special raised texture that gives a soft spongy feel, with a tacky grip. This style of Texture also allows for excellent feedback at impact. Unlike other oversized grips, Ping does taper the AVS. So as you go down the grip, it does become slightly slimmer.

Another thing golfers will notice is that this grip is very boxy with sharper edges rather than a continuous circle. This is just Ping’s take on oversized grips and may appeal to your needs in a putter grip. Currently, Ping is only offering the AVS Oversize in grey.

Pros

  • Soft Spongy Feel
  • Reduced Hand Stress
  • More Contour

Cons

  • Expensive

Thanks to an unforgettable feel, the Ping AVS Oversize has made itself a must-have.

5. Golf Pride SNSR Contour

Features

  • Pistol Countour, Soft Feel, Maximum Feedback
  • Package Height Of The Item Is 2.0"
  • Package Length Of The Item Is 15.0"
  • Package Width Of The Item Is 3.0"

Like a more traditional pistol style putter grip? Golf Pride has you covered with the SNSR Contour.

Key Features

  • Tacky Feel
  • Contoured Grip
  • 2 Weights Available

Oversized pistol grips are not as common as their round cousins but Golf Pride is here to change that. By using a traditional contoured grip and making it oversized, Golf Pride has created the SNSR. Because of the tapered oversize, the contouring is a bit more pronounced.

As for feel, the SNSR Contour does a great job. It’s tacky, but somewhat tactile, giving a better feedback profile than other fat putter grips. It should also be noted that the SNSR Contour has more defined edges than many other putter grips. Perhaps the closest comparison in edge shape would be with the Ping AVS Oversize.

Grey and red are the only two color choices golfers have when purchasing the SNSR Contour. Although, golfers do have more of a choice in weight and size. A mid-sized grip weighs in at 104 grams while the largest size comes in at 124 grams. This way you can choose which grip will better balance your putter.

Pros

  • Great Feedback
  • Comfortable Contours
  • Multiple Weights Available

Cons

  • Expensive

While there are only a few oversized contour putter grips available, the Golf Pride SNSR Contour is by far the best.
